Sayville High School Students Attend Long Island Science Congress

On Wednesday, April 19, eight Sayville High School research students attended the Long Island Science Congress at Walt Whitman High School where they presented their projects to judges from across Long Island. 

Sayville High School student research projects ranged between topics that included investigation into engineering bioplastics, 3D printable personal protective equipment,  temperature effects on butterflies during development, perceived effects of energy drinks, cosmetic surgery procedures, bullying and the effects of social media on brainwave function. 

“This was a great opportunity for our students to present their research projects to judges and interact with students from districts across Long Island,” R.I.S.E. Tech Engineering teacher Rick Caskey said.  I am proud of our students' hard work and dedication. ”

R.I.S.E. and R.I.S.E. Tech student projects will be on display to the public at the Sayville Schools Science Symposium on Monday June 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

***Anna Meserve's project was mentored by Mr. Doug Shaw in the A.P. Capstone research class with her presentation poster board assembled in the R.I.S.E. Research Lab.
